How is it that once again, 50% of the world's population makes up 1/8th of the available heroes?
It's not a shortage of female characters--Marvel has plenty of them. It's a shortage of people willing and able to write them into your games.
There are more roles available (and more able to be purchased without having to buy the entire package)roles for sentient tree-like aliens and weapons wielding furry mammals than there are for humans without a Y chromosome.
At some point, it's far enough over the line that it quits looking like an oversight and starts looking like an intentional slight to women to keep them out of the geekery clubhouse. That line is way way way way way back there.
(Please don't tell me to 'be patient'. I've asked to be patient on this particular topic for more than 30 years. If there aren't more, louder complaints, nothing will change. My 8 year old self didn't get to see much in the way of awesome superhero females, there's no excuse not to have them by the time my daughter is 8.
"Trust but verify" comes to mind, sure, if #Marvel tells me that they're working with #Disney on something awesome, to hold my horses, I'll get a bit of fangirl glee...but I'm also waiting for them to ignore their female fanbase. again.)
